Meet The Team: Kirsty Unsworth
Tell us about yourself…
I’ve been with DCB Legal for almost a year now. I started out on the Letter Of Claim team and then got promoted at the end of May this year to team leader. I’ve worked in Debt Recovery previously as a correspondence case manager, and I also worked in Parking on Private Land Appeals (POPLA), so I have a lot of experience in the parking industry as well as debt collection.
Outside of work I love spending time with my husband Ash, and my son Finlay, and watching RuPaul’s Drag Race! I have a big family and a lot of friends who I love spending time with too. I also love watching films – although I don’t have much time to watch any these days!
How did you end up at DCB Legal?
In my previous job, I knew a lot of people that had decided to work for DCB Legal and I knew that the company had a good reputation and great client base. My old company were making a lot of redundancies at the time, so I took voluntary redundancy because I knew there were opportunities at DCB Legal and was lucky enough to get the job!
Tell us about your role…
So I’m a team leader which means I work on identifying any gaps in knowledge or processes within my team, as well as working closely with the IQA and training department to continuously develop our training and skills. I also provide support and help everyone to do their roles as best as they can!
What benefits do you bring to the client journey?
I have great correspondence experience from my old role and from working at DCB Legal which helps the one-touch approach that we try to utilize when corresponding with defendants. Plus, I have a lot of parking and debt recovery experience and knowledge that I can pass on to the team!
What do you feel is different about DCB Legal compared to other firms?
The work environment here is much more relaxed, there’s no micromanagement and our teams can plan their workday as they want or need to. Everyone here is hard working and we all pitch in to help! It’s a great place to work which I think is reflected in the standard of work that we do for our clients.
What do you think the future holds for DCB Legal?
It’ll continue to get bigger! We’re growing and growing at the minute which is so exciting, there are so many positive changes. We’re introducing a case management structure which means it’ll be even easier for everyone to have their own input on their day-to-day role and give ideas on how to improve this. We’re regularly getting in new clients too. DCB Legal will get bigger and better!
If you could give any advice to your younger self, what would you say?
I would probably say – don’t care what other people think. If you’re happy then just be yourself and don’t worry about what anyone else thinks!
